I’m part of an educational startup called Milestone. Milestone aims to provide a cohesive, simple and accessible way for students to achieve their long term career goals. We feel that in the current school system, the individual, academic, and occupational needs of high school students are not being met. Often times, students are systematically educated to obtain jobs, instead of careers that they will love, post high school. This false sense of direction creates a lack of drive and passion in students.
In cooperation with my amazing team members Divya Pinaka (another GHS student) and Rahni Stewart (a student at White Station High School), we’re well on our way toward something great. We began the creation of Milestone a few months ago, shortly after being grouped together within our local MIT Launch club. We’ve bonded and have shown to have great chemistry together. Our chemistry has allowed us to achieve some great feats. The most notable being that we were the only high school students that were accepted to attend the MIT Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in Brisbane, Australia. Another awesome feat that we achieved was being featured in High Ground News.
Currently, we are awaiting confirmation on whether we will be selected by MIT for the final pitch of our startup at MIT. If we are selected, we will be able to network with like minded individuals and groups, receive crucial feedback to progress our startup, plus a series of prizes that will support the development of our company.
