It was difficult to move Abdullah to Germantown High because he had attended the same school for elementary and middle school and had strong bonds with his friends. I made the decision to send him to Germantown High beginning in 10th grade so that he would have opportunities to expand his horizons and he has done just that. Being at Germantown High the past years and a half, Abdullah has grown as a student and as a young man. The school has had more positive impacts on Abdullah than I had imagined. There have been so many people with positive influences on Abdullah, from students to the teachers that take an active role in his education to the extracurricular activities that provide him with opportunities to grow outside of the academic environment. While my initial decision to move Abdullah to Germantown High was a source of stress, it is now a source of pride and optimism for his future.
