Our son has attended Germantown High School for the past 3 ½ years in the International Baccalaureate Program. Both of my children have been in the Optional School Program, previously with MCS, now with the SCS system. We have always wanted our children to have challenging educational experiences. But just as important as having good teachers and challenging classroom curriculums is being in a program where the students and their families make education a priority. We wanted an environment where the kids are highly motivated and value their education. This is the environment Germantown High School has provided.
As parents we have a strong influence on our children and their development. But we also know as parents that our children’s peers play an important role in their decision making.
Our experience at Germantown High School has been one where there is a great amount of camaraderie between the IB students. There is also great diversity, in culture and in socioeconomic levels. This environment has given our son an experience of belonging, an understanding that all people from all walks of life are valuable and are more alike than different in skill and ability, and in which differences are celebrated. He has learned so much from his teachers and his classmates.
We are sincerely thankful for the school’s educators and administration for their hard work and dedication to try to meet the needs of all students at the school, to help each student maximize their potential. Germantown High School has provided an excellent learning environment for our son.
