Over the next few days, we'll be doing a countdown to graduation, and featuring the student whose class rank is the same as the number of days until graduation.
Christian Snipes is ranked #18 out of 492. Here's what he has to say:
For the past several years, I have received a high-quality education at one of the best schools in Shelby County: Germantown High School. At GHS, I have experienced so many great memories and made so many friends that I hope last a lifetime. Furthermore, the diversity on campus truly resonates to my core. When I see the sight of people from different backgrounds, races, and cultures interacting with one another, I am inspired by a potential future for cultural tolerance and appreciation. Besides these defining aspects of GHS, I have also left my mark on campus in academics, athletics, and extracurriculars.
On the academic side, I have taken challenging classes ranging from Honors, AP, and even IB for all four years in high school. In particular, the International Baccalaureate program has been an enriching experience to be a part of. Most importantly, the IB program has exposed me all types of cultures, heightened my academic levels, and laid a foundation for my near-entry into college. As for athletics, I have participated in GHS Track and Field for two years and GHS Cross Country for one year. In both activities, I have been a member of the Varsity team and achieved commendable personal records all thanks to my trainers at GHS. In regards to extracurriculars, I have been massively involved at GHS during all four years in high school. I have been a member of GHS’s International Club, FBLA, Science Olympiad, Key Club and several other organizations. Furthermore, I have been inducted into numerous prestigious honor societies like National Honor Society, Beta Club, Rho Kappa, National Art Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta.
To continue my education, I have set my sights on numerous potential colleges. Currently, I have been accepted into ten colleges – with seven still on the waiting list – but my top choices as of now are the University of Tennessee: Knoxville and the University of Pittsburgh, with Pitt offering a full scholarship.
Overall, my experience at GHS has set my life up for success.
