My name is Mrs. Murphy and I teach Algebra 1. The most important piece of advice I can give students taking Algebra 1 is to use class time wisely, participating in all discussions, practicing opportunities, and working on other areas that could help mastery of algebraic concepts and processes. Often, students struggle because they fail to see the importance and, as a result, quickly lose interest, but if you come to class daily with an open and growth mindset, you can be much more successful.
This is a new year and every single student has a chance to make this the best year yet. So, don’t forget to bring pencils to class everyday, to be willing to try to learn things outside of "your box" and to not be afraid to ask questions.
